Edinburgh, Lothians and the Scottish Borders has something for everyone. Along with the vibrant city of Edinburgh with its own wildlife, the Firth of Forth, its islands and coastline hold breath-taking wildlife wonders. Internationally important seabird colonies, including the Bass Rock
gannets nest on the Forth's islands which can be accessed by boat and enjoyed from the Scottish Seabird Centre at North Berwick.
The dramatic coast of south-east Scotland is backed by rolling
hills and farmland, and influenced by one of the world's foremost
rivers for
wild salmon, the River Tweed, with excellent opportunities to spot water birds, such as
dippers and
kingfishers.
